Illustrations
for The Archiver:
I
am not by nature much of a gamer, but I am a big fan of the Myst and
Riven games and own every version and all the other games and books in
the series. It's the only game series I truly enjoy. In
December of 2006 Uru Live was launched on the Gametap service. I
signed up and have been playing ever since. I put up a blog
dedicated to the game and for a few months religiously wrote entries
and posted screenshots. Through this I was asked to join a
"magazine" (released in PDF format) that reported things happening in
the game to other devout fans. In one issue they began a fiction
story and an illustrator was needed. I wasn't supposed to be
doing it, but something happened and I ended up doing three drawings
for that issue. Just after it was released however, the gaming
computer I was using crashed permanently. (it's on the floor under a
desk collecting dust right this minute.) I can still get on
the game but the graphics look pretty bad and my drawings just aren't
going to be what they once were, so I have kind of lost touch with
those folks and rarely play anymore. But, doing those three
drawings really inspired me to want to do many more so I guess they
were one of the many catalysts to get me drawing again.
I don't believe I can sell these, as they are drawings from a
copyrighted and trademarked game series, but you can at least see more
of my illustration style here. All of these measure 8x11".
